For all you car guys,....make sure to watch in 720p.
As driven by retired Rally Driver Tommi Makinen: http://www.youtube.com/user/SubaruGl.../0/4hyATjjajPg AFAIK it's a stock prototype STI and Tommi get's it up to 155 mph on the long straight into the finish.

I'm mistaken,...it is a prototype but it isn't stock. It's got the JDM 2 litre and a larger than stock turbo. 320 hp (I think stock = 305hp in the states). It also has some aerodynamic pieces fitted to it for better high speed stability.
I bet the time would have been a few seconds quicker had Tommi remembered 6th gear at the beginning and not almost lost it at the end of the run,....that said he probably did a hell of lot better than I could have mustered on that track. |

Running them in on the dirt rally roads is the perfect place for them I much prefer the smooth sounding straight 6 motor in my beemer. |

There is a rally race within driving distance of here that I have yet to make (not exactly the best spectator motorsport). I used to watch the recaps on the Speed Channel all the time (before it became the Nascar channel). Nothing like muddy AWD cars hauling *** up old logging roads. |

If not, enjoy! It's a highlight mix of old FIA Group B rally footage. Was featured in an Autoblog.com post a year or so ago.
Not ashamed to say, I was choked up with joy watching it for the first time. Ohh the glorious sounds! |

I looked into it and I think I'm going to try to make it to the Olympus Rally on the Washington State coast next year,...if not I'm going to try to get to the Oregon Trail Rally.

That's sweet! I'm a huge fan of the Lancia Stratos and Delta, so when I saw those, I was drooling a bit.

Or the opposite. Subarus sound like Harleys.
