Man, you are not lying! They are about the most hideous jerseys imaginable. It's like they intentionally want to look like a bad joke. Just friggin' awful...

OK, can this possibly the next Chara?:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highsc...144916211.html

Kid is only 12 years old and is 6' 5-1/2" and 192 pounds. Looks like the dad skating next to his son in the pic in this article:

http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey...an-most-nhlers

If he has any talent and can develop it... Whoa! But he's a forward? WTH?

At that age and being that size, I hope he doesn't develop any kind of bone disorders or heart condition. I'd say don't push him too hard into sports and let him have a normal childhood, well....as normal as he could have at 6'5".

At this rate he won't have a decent league to play in anyway.

Just finishing up watching Charlotte Checkers beat the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL 6-4 coming back from being down 4-1. Fox Sports Detroit seems to be picking up the Griffins games (Detroit's AHL team) since the NHL is shut down. At least it's some hockey to watch even if I have to listen to Mickey Redmond and company.

And here's an interesting tidbit... since Bain Capital has been in the news with the election... Seems Bain Capital made a couple offers to buy out the NHL and make it a one owner operation back during the 05 lockout:

http://deadspin.com/5939623/where-wo...league-in-2005

Where would the NHL be today if that had happened? Lot's of theories in the article.

Well, here's what Detroit loses out on if they cancel the Winter Classic this week. I didn;t realize there was all this to it this year:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...7846--nhl.html

This just lists the games but there was more supposed to be going on in downtown Detroit than just these games. C'mon NHL, get-er-done!

The real ones holding us hostage... the real owners holding us hostage... according to this article at least on Yahoo:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...9901--nhl.html

And since it is Movember, here's some sad news for Oilers prospect Brandon Davidson:

I'm with the family at the Yale/Dartmouth game tonight. Brown/Dartmouth tomorrow night.

NHL can stick it. This is a blast, and so far I've spent less than $50 for all of us to park, grab a snack, and attend the game.

I got a good look at Nail Yakupov tonight in the Super Series, but the boys from the QMJHL beat Team Russia handily to even the series 1-1.

For those of us who are fans of Mike Emrick...

Kind of cool to get to do this along side you mentor. Side benefit of no NHL right now.

One of my best buds texted me yesterday insisting that we'd do the pool for this year's hockey season. He was getting carried away with the fact that the NHL & NHLPA were talking for the 4th day in a row, as if that's any indication that they're coming close to an agreement.

Telling him they did the same thing in September and nothing came of it still didn't change his opinion. Today, Bob McKenzie tweeted that all sources he talked to stated that they pretty much just spun their wheels the entire time.

That seemed to finally be enough to bring him back to reality. lol!

The puck drops in Hanover in about 16 minutes. Rensselaer is in town tonight, Union tomorrow. Brought my son with me again tonight, but the wife stayed home. Another couple joined us.

Yay for college hockey!

We don't have that over here, I suspect it's because of the LHJMQ, which compensates nicely

It sure does. Did you watch any of the Super Series? I saw the one where QMJHL won 5-3.

I thought it was 5-2?

I watched the first game, where Canada lost and in typical Russian Dog* fashion, they were outplayed most of the game but got all the bounces and scored on all their opportunities.

*this term only applies while they're on the ice, if you catch my drift.
