Hello,

I had watched Pulp Fiction the other day, and I can't find something that I really liked. Jules claims his awesome Bibical quote that he says before killing someone is from Ezekial 25:17. However, the only part from that section is "And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious
rebukes; and they shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them." Where is the first part located at?

Pretty sure that Quentin Tarantino took a wee bit of artistic liberty with that one.

He "borrowed" it from a 1973 karate movie.

Sonny Chiba (Kill Bill) in The Bodyguard

Seems Tarantino was a fan of those karate movies.

some of it is close, but yea, the rest was thrown in there for the movie. i think i also heard/read some time ago that some of it was taken from another verse. 17:25 maybe, i remember them saying they had transposed the numbers.

If you watch the part towards the end where they flashback to Big Kahuna story, it shows the guy in the bathroom hearing the verse through the door. When Jules goes on his rant, the guy in the bathroom makes a "***?" face - he knew that Jules was quoting it wrong. His character was a demon in the service of Satan, so of course he would know the Bible word for word.

It's just Jules version of the Bible.

the whole "Marcellus Wallace's soul in the briefcase" theory is one of my favourite movie conspiracies of all time. Such cool coincidences...

Haven't watched that movie in a while. I'm gonna have to.

It's not a conspiracy - Tarantino confirmed it himself.

I think a lot was lost in translation due to the metric system.

Not according to snopes.com or imdb.com. The whole Marcellus Wallace's soul theory never entered into thought process of the movie's writers.

On the very very very excrutiatingly long winded extras disc that comes with the anniversary director's edition or some such thing, he mentions that they thought about all that stuff later.

It's called "The McGuffin". What's in the briefcase has no bearing on the story what so ever. It's the fact that the characters in the movie are pursuing it that makes it interesting. Alfred Hitchcock used the McGuffin to great effect.

Eze 25:15 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because the Philistines acted in vengeance and took revenge with malice in their hearts, and with ancient hostility sought to destroy Judah,

Eze 25:16 therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Kerethites and destroy those remaining along the coast.

Eze 25:17 I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I take vengeance on them.

Interesting... I've only got that movie on VHS... might need to shell out for the DVD if only to watch Tarrantino ramble on while his forehead sweats...

Never heard that term before... that sort of makes a great deal more sense...

Wow! A quick Google search came up with this!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the McGuffin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacGuffin

I feel the same way about the entire movie. Completely overrated.
