The day the music died, at least for my generation.
RIP John Lennon.

(more of a rhetorical or philisophical question as we will never know)

(more of a rhetorical or philisophical question as we will never know) | The same could be said for any artist that died young, like Jimi or Cobain. In which case any answer would be good. My answer - I don't know!

It's certainly interesting to think about what might have been. Not that I want to take this quote out of context, but what General Patton said sums it up nicely - we should not be sad that such men died, but rather we should thank God that such men lived.

(more of a rhetorical or philisophical question as we will never know) | What bass would Jaco use if he were here today?
What kinda uncle would my aunt be if she had a 'stache?
Would Jaco use 4 strings if he were here today?
Would Beethoven still compose 2,3 & 4 if he didn't become deaf?
Which bass would Jaco suggest for metal if he weren't dead?
Goes oooooooooon and oooooooon ...

(more of a rhetorical or philisophical question as we will never know) | Maybe not quite as successful, but still very popular. I don't have any numbers at hand, but I believe the Beatles' music sold extremely well in the 10 years between their breakup and Lennon's death. The first album I ever bought, in 1975 at the age of 12, was a Beatles album--I just devoured their stuff over the next few years, as did some of my friends at school. I'm sure we weren't alone.
As for his solo work, the association with the Beatles coupled with Lennon's penchant for controversy in the '70s means quite a lot of attention would have been paid to it even if he'd lived. Look at Paul--his last hit was probably in the mid-80s, but he's still a huge concert draw.
