stereo lithography. been around for over a decade. very similar in concept, and very very cool. and very expensive. used to prototype for ergonomics on medical instruments when I worked for a company 10 years ago. not as robust as this end-result, but same...

Not really new. But they are still pretty cool.

But there are some new kits (few £k) popping up now.

Have a look at the MakerBot "Thing-O-Matic", that's pretty cool. A build your own 3D printer.
