Like with JFK, I remember the day. I called my girlfriend Mary and we talked about it. I was 13 and it was a very big deal to me.
Play on, play on...

Those of us that remember the news of his passing are starting to sprout a gray hair or two...

RIP JH

I didn't even realize it was the 40th anniversary of his death until earlier today. However, I've been playing his music almost nonstop for two weeks now.

At practice last weekend we broke out recordings of a Hendrix song that you don't hear much to learn. Check out 'Freedom'. It's a pretty good jam.

Frequently our culture venerates dead musicians mostly because they're dead. Jimi actually deserves the post-mortem respect he recieves.

Yeah, it was a bummer. Luckily, caught him live at Madison Sq Garden along with Cat Mother and the All Night Newsboys and Buddy Miles. Still have the ticket stub.

I was 9 years old. The obit was in the Holly, MI newspaper. My step-mom (an RN) read it to me and was reviled with the description of choking on alcohol & barbituates that was described.

I just thought, bummer.
