I received my new Fender Standard PBass today and decided it needed some flats. Grabbed a fresh shirt off of a hanger in my closet and I thought I had a thorn in the seam under my arm. He got me 3 times before I got the shirt off. I had to photo him before he was disposed of properly. The aftermath wasn't pretty. The shirt had to go too.
I got another shirt...carefully inspected it of course...and went and bought TWO sets of strings just to celebrate the stomping to death of a creature I have feared my whole life. What did it feel like? He hit like a sissy. Seriously. I'm not sure what his daddy would be like, though.

glad I've never seen one of those awful creatures around here. I'd be in a constant state of heightened security. Haha |

What part of the world are you in OP?

Yes, that went through my mind but I'm in South Texas. I'm not aware of any deadly scorpions here unless you're allergic. Apparently, I am not. The swelling resembled that of a Yellow Jacket/Red Wasp sting but only lasted about an hour.
They climb walls. I moved to the "hill country" and they are very common out here. The funny thing is that I'm very paranoid about them and the 12 or so shirts that were hanging in that part of the closet had just been laundered and put there on Tuesday. The only thing keeping me from totally freaking out is that it didn't hurt as bad as I have been told it would. Maybe he took it easy on me? I can't say I showed the same restraint.....

I have lots of experience with the South Texas Brown Sleeved Barking Spider, however. Very quiet creatures. But are strangely vocal after I've had my wife's meatloaf, King Ranch chicken, or deviled eggs. Still trying to figure that one out........

I put pelletized seven dust around the outside of my condo, which keeps them and millipedes at bay. The few I do see used to be killed by my little dog- mushed and properly rolled on. Now that the little dog is gone, I see them once a year or so. I usually catch and release. They are mean!
Think about some seven dust covering the 6 inches you place connects to the ground. Maybe some natural bug repellent near doors and windows. Stuff works.

We have millipedes and centipedes as well. I'll have to try and find some pictures of ones we've come across. Those guys can get really large.
A full house/yard extermination and preventative care plan will be done. I may spend the next year relaxing in my Man Chair watching football with snake boots and welder's gloves on.

The real insect threat around here are the big assed yellow hornets. One of them packs enough punch to swell you up bad and make it feel like you've been injected with molten iron. Problem is, it's rare to see just one and they are very protective of their territory.

The smaller their CLAWS are (relative to body size) the more poisonous they are generally.
Ones with big claws use the claws to capture prey and don't need strong venom. Ones with teeny weak claws on the other hand...

Is that what this monster is? It was dead when I found it, but that stinger is as thick as a sewing needle!
