I thought it would be like that other thread a while back where the man actually wrestled and strangled the bear to death with his bare hands.

Pretty impressive rifle skills for a 5 year old, though.

I come from a hunting family, but didn't even consider killing a large animal at 5 yrs.

Kids got some guts.

PA started a mentorship program. I'm pretty excited about it. I can decide when to take my kid hunting, don't have to wait until he's 12. There's rules in place to make it safe and fair.

you have to think tho, it's kind of like putting a cat in front of a kid and telling him to give its tail a huge tug. it was prettymuch prepped

yeah, I don't think he woke up one morning and decided to go hunting by myself.

The grandfather was there, and they were waiting in a stand.

Next time, give the bear a gun too... THEN I'll be impressed.

Kids don't kill bears, guns kill bears.

well that's not a kid killing a bear. That's a kid listening to his grandfather telling him to take a shot so he can bring it down and the grandfather can make him look like he did it all by himself.

I know. He cames from a hunting family tho. Probably could shot before he could talk.

I come from a hunting family, and at 5, I was still playing with my GI Joe.

Am I the only one thinking there was absolutely no reason to kill the bear? Don't people only kill them if they are a threat? This one seemed to be minding it's business and not threatening. What the hell was the reason to kill this bear? For the sake of killing it? Or getting a new rug? All BS reasons to kill this beast, freakin stupid.

I'm not a PITA suporter, I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, I'm not an animal rights activist.
To be honest I LOVE eating meat but this just seems like an utterly pointless kill. Disgusting.

In most of the USA, there is a Black bear hunting season. Some folks eat bear meat, but I hear it is pretty greasy. Generally, I don't favor killing them unless they become a menace. To me, the only "good" reason to hunt bears is to make sure they maintain some sort of fear of humans which will actually help them because it will discourage them coming too close to human habitation.
