I saw that. Sad, very very sad, but necessary. I had an ex that worked in an animal shelter, the fact that they had to put down so many unwanted animals just tore her up inside.

Completely understand it. They certainly do not have the luxury to keep them waiting for their adoption.

Muslim culture despises dogs in general and they DO NOT keep them as pets. I lived in Saudi Arabia for a year many moons ago---same thing there. They are tolerated to eat the garbage, kill rats and that's about it from what I saw and learned there.
