That time of year again.

Anyone else quite keen for it to get underway?

Calcutta Cup on the first weekend is going to be interesting, quite a lot of new players on each squad.

I realise there is typically a bit of a fall out post-RWC, but this year there seems to have been a fair amount of the old guard stepping down.

I'd like to think Scotland will do well, however, after the RWC performances I think this is going to be a battle between France and Wales!

Looking forward to it!
My expectations are low, I just hope my Italy won't get the golden spoon as usual... :P

Post Rugby World Cup, I'm very interested in this 6 Nations. Particularly interested in Wales, having Gatland as the coach. Could be an All Black coach one day.

Good plan Mike!

Sadly the Scotland squad seems to be dwindling. Chris Paterson has retired from the international game, Kelly Brown and Joe Ansbro are both out with injury

I caught the Ireland game, that was a great match, but missed the Wales v Scotland match, looking quite nice so far though I must say.

Week 1 :

France - Italy was a good game, Italy really upped their play. IMO the score line would have been closer if the Italian fullback could tackle.

Scotland - England wasn't a great game. Not even going by the score line, it was just dull to watch. We lost points in a silly way and never took our opportunities. Great charge down by the English player!

Ireland - Wales was the game of the first weekend IMO. I felt sorry for Ireland, they should have won. The Welsh player who was sin binned should have had a red card, it was a pointlessly dangerous tackle. The Irish player shouldn't have recieved a yellow card for his tackle, however there still should have been the penalty.

Week 2:

Italy - England, this was quite a good game! Italy really impressed me, the young English team made some mistakes which almost cost them the game, but they came rampaging back into it for the win.

France - Ireland game cancelled. First time a 6 nations game has been cancelled in 27 years! Poor show for leaving it so late. The temperature was -5 to -6 (C) and expected to drop to -10, how they thought it would thaw I don't know. Felt sorry for the supporters who were all freezing in the stadium waiting to be told that!

Wales - Scotland, favourite game of the weekend. As a Scotland fan, it was highly frustrating! Less than 10 minutes of stupidity cost us the game. Two yellow cards which were pointlessly given away, left us down to 13 men at one point. I think those players will be suffering for that, I don't think either will be starting in the next game. The score was 3-3 at half time. Scotland almost scored a try just before the end of the half, but the Welsh line stayed strong. Welsh team made some blinding plays and scored some awesome tries early in the second half, the Scotland team didn't seem switched on when they came out for the second half. However, replacements saw some excellent play from younger and upcoming players.

The most annoying part of the Wales - Scotland game was the referee, he allowed Wales to milk a penalty. Didn't penalise for hands in the ruck, offside play and late tackles & dangerous from the Welsh squad and worst of all, he disallowed a Scottish try, claiming a knock on which was shown to have not happened!

On the bright side, it was good to see Hogg coming on, first cap, playing at full back, made a couple blinding runs, it was his try which was sadly disallowed!

Granted, it's hard to tell in open play, but it's also annoying that they wouldn't review the slow motion!

Either way, it was an excellent game to watch, lots of nice running rugby!
