Absinthe Delivered!

Sign in to disble this ad
It took about 3 1/2 weeks but my Absinthe finally arrived from La Boheme UK (www.absinthoriginal.com).

I purchase a bottle of Absinth Original:

http://www.originalabsinthe.com/absi...inal-p-57.html

A bottle of Staroplzenecky:

http://www.originalabsinthe.com/star...nthe-p-37.html

and a gift set to bring to the next knife show

http://www.originalabsinthe.com/absinthe-gift-p-59.html

Last night I sampled the Original and Staroplzenecky. Both had a nice flavor, the Original is VERY smooth, providing an almost instant "glow" and interesting buzz The Staroplzenecky is somewhat bitter and less potent but still an interesting flavor.

From what I understand 2 of the brands in the gift pack are rated a little higher than the original, looking forward to trying them.

After about 6 drinks, 3 of each brand (1-1 1/2 shots each) served in the traditional manor with sugar and ice water I was feeling no pain. My wife said I was a bit obnoxious but rather happy and smiling oddly I don't remember falling asleep but woke up this morning with no ill affects It certainly provides a nice feeling, different than straight booze. I could see an immoderate person getting crazy from the stuff!!!

Although expensive, I'm rather happy with my purchase. Both bottles that I sampled are still more than 3/4 full so it goes a long way. Just a warning........if you act like an AZZZhole from regular booze beware of absinthe, LOL!!!

Now that you mention it, I recall that I didn't wake up after a night of absinthe with any ill effects either. Especially for something that is 140 proof.

It is really cool to serve with the slotted spoon and sugar, just because the whole ritual of it is interesting and makes for an out of the ordinary experience.

On the other hand, I didn't feel any different than after having any other adult beverage and I really don't like anise flavored drinks so I doubt I'll be trying it again.

Cool! I've been wanting to try some, but haven't been able to find any. The whole mystery/ritual of it makes it all the more appealing to me. Plus the fact that countries, including the US, outlawed it for a time makes it even more fun.

+1

Red wine makes for some bad hangovers whether it's expensive or not. But the worst hangovers I've ever had have come from mead, regardless of quality. Nasty, nasty hangovers. But I still love the stuff.

I like mead also. The orange and grapefruit wine my friend makes is also bad for hangovers. He calls it wine but he distills it and mixes it with juice and lets it ferment. It's about 70 proof and tastes great over ice. It's really easy to hurt yourself with it

The orange wine, in a TALL glass, over ice with a splash of 7up is awesome. It tastes like orange soda but less sweet. It goes down sooooooooooo easy. The grapefruit wine is mostly used in a citrus punch that they serve at parties. It's like a high octane fruit salad that you drink and eat. It'll also cause you to fall out

I have a bunch of drink recipes from a book that they inlcuded with the Absinthe. I'll try some when I have more in my selection. I'm having some now while I'm watching football. Suddenly, I find it as interesting as stock car racing

\MM/, anytime you want to visit you are welcome. You can spend the day grinding steel and breathing dust in the knife shop, then we can hit my liquor cabinet and throw somthing on the grill in the evening

Absinthe is illegal in the US?

It is pretty gross, mind you. I'll stick with my rum
