Absolute truths

What absolute truths have you found, if any, when it comes to basses, bass playing, or anything else related to bass.

I've found that:

1. Single coils always sound better that humbuckers when slapping
2. Everyone but me can make a P bass sound good

more to come when I can think of them

These are, of course, opinion but I'm sure most bassists have had experiences that have been so consistent over time that they might as well be fact.

LOL. "absolute truths", followed by two subjective statements about sounding good or better.

So a SCPB would sound better slapped than a MM? I think not, sir

I don't think there are any absolute truths. I think that in this business, everything is so subjective that nothing can hold true for every single person.

Aboslute truths:
1: No one has figured out a formula for buying the perfect bass. Playing a bunch in the store will tell you very little more than just buying one at random.

2: Fenders are too ******** expensive new

3: Switching to GEICO can not improve your playing by 15% or more.

Sadowskys are always at least as good as, if not better than [insert other brand here].

There are no absolute truths, only individual's personal opinions, experiences, and preferences.

All musicians are under the impression that their fecal matter does not produce foul odors.

No matter how much you practice, no matter how good you get, Gene Simmons will always have more money and more women than you ever will!

No matter what the state-of-the-art is in bass playing, there will always be another hit pop record with some kid with a Fender (and probably an Ampeg) going Plunk Plunk on the root at 4-to-the-bar...

Motown will always sound good, and James Brown is the godfather of Soul...

We'd be better off practicing our craft rather than posting on TB.

Oh... I forgot one of the most important. No matter how good you think you are at something, you can always find a six year old on Youtube who'll smoke your a$$.
