| | As a matter of fact, I DO have a warning label. | | Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Near Orlando FL | | | If you didn't have the heartburn, I'd suggest two aspirin + two aleve with a half of a caffeinated soda. That would kick the back pain. But since your stomach is upset....
Do you have any ginger? Chewing a sliver of ginger (or make and drink a tea from it) can calm the stomach.
For the back...ice pack.

| | | | Heartburn: OTC pepcid or similar. Not on hand or too much of a hassle to go out to get it, try ginger ale but it has to be flat.
Back pain: take advil or some non-aspirin pain reliever. While waiting for that to kick in, cold compresses or cold shower. Then go to bed with a heating pad.
If heartburn is a regular problem go see a doctor. If it is GERD it could lead to a precancerous condition known as Barrett's Syndrome and then to the Big C. You are probably too young for this but it is worth having it checked.
Why cold? It drives blood deep into the muscles to heal the damaged areas. The warm then helps the muscles and you relax. Sleep is when most muscle repair happens.
Good luck! |

That heartburn you feel is from posting a non music-related topic in Miscellaneous. I'll move it, you'll feel better.

If the reflux has already started though it can take an hour or more to get it under control. I think Tagamet might be a bit quicker to work once the reflux has started but Prilosec is better for preventing it for 24hrs.

I find that the long-term (12-hour plus) antacids work well, although they take a while to kick in - I always buy the generic (store) brand, not the Prilosec, Tagamet or whatever other brand you might have heard of.

Good god !.... if what you have is an ulcer, milk could make it worse....
I get acid reflux when I see people seek health advice on a Bass forum....some of the responses that are offered are pure nonsense....
Unless your doctor was a bass player, would you be asking them about help with amplification/set-ups/lutherie/practice strategies, etc ?.....
Seek help from a professional , let the bass players play their basses |

Quite often, it's spicy or greasy foods that can do it and it's not exactly a bad thing to cut back on these. Also try to eat smaller meals and not so close to bedtime.
If you want to save $ and are already seeing a doctor, generic Zantac is often on most grocery store's $4-5 RX list without insurance. |

| | | | I totally know what you mean. I get acid reflux at work in the middle of the day! Tums help but I sometimes go through a bottle in a week.
I've found that cutting excessive sugar out of my diet prevents acid issues. Also I've found that eating regularly, (not skipping meals), and adding a bit more dairy to my diet helps too.
