Advertising help....Lessons and Repair

Sign in to disble this ad
I just moved from Indiana to Georgia. In Indiana I had years to build up a business where I had 60+ weekly students. Now I am hear and word of mouth does not work very quickly.

How should I advertise that I teach lessons and do repairs in a big city? I have started working with some schools and have gotten the ball rolling. Up to about 12 students and 2-3 guitars a week, but it would be nice to have some help.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Craigslist?
Community postings boards at local grocery stores?
Let the kids banging away on Rock Band at Best Buy and WalMart know?
Local newspaper?
Bumper sticker on your car?

Craigslist always seems so cheesy.
Grocery stores...will use that one.
I don't like to go to walmart or best buy if I can help it.
I tried classifieds in Kokomo, did not get me a single call. Maybe the local "hip" Papers would work.
Bumber stickers....I am of the mind set that I do not want to stick out in public. Maybe I could put my bumper stickers on other peoples cars!

Hi.

I really feel like stating the obvious here, but do the music shops around there allow such advertising?

If not for the repair, then for the lessons at least. The student's will probably bring some repair stuff in anyway.

Regards

school music teachers,if they still exist would be good places to network.perhaps make up a flyer and target them......are there any of those local neighborhood papers in your area.......local community sports..soccer moms also drive their kids to music lessons maybe go to a game or two and talk to the parents ......if you're geared more to adult students i would think you might consider a small ad in the phone book,or local biz directory, tho' i have no idea what that might cost....

if you are doing it yourself and have no plans to grow it beyond that as a business, expensive ads will not be worth while

+1

Every music store I've ever been to has a board near the door that teachers post on, offering lessons.
