advice? bass player homeless in austin, tx

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

My name is Wes (19). I recently lost everything i had in Indianapolis due to overwhelming personal dilemmas, loss of jobs and bands, and death and hit the road to nowhere with 2 friends (18,19). As stupid as everybody will take that as, it really was the best option. We are broke and looking for jobs and homes in austin, texas. I only have an acoustic guitar and when i find a home i can have my amp sent to me but i do not own a bass. Does anyone have any pointers as to how I can make this work? the food at the homeless shelter sucks and I'm tired of living in a crappy hotel. I'm willing to do any work anywhere in the city as long as its consistent enough for me to survive. Or if somebody has a place for us we will work for you. I have plenty of experience touring, recording, and writing. Any advice will help a fellow bass player get on his feet and make something of himself!

Peace Love and Respect

Well if you're only 19 I'd say go home to your mom and dad if that's an option.

Fill out applications everywhere you can. Now is not the time to be picky. If you have to work 2 fast food jobs to survive, do it. In Austin, maybe you can even get on as a ranch hand somewhere. Walmart is always hiring too. My guess is because of your age, you have no college and hopefully have at least a high school diploma or GED. Also, contact the job core. My oldest son is 18 and he is getting ready to go and work for them so they can teach him a skill. Your music may have to take a hiatus but it will be a lot longer hiatus if you don't find work soon.
Best of luck to you.

See above. Where are your parents, grandparents,aunts/uncles or older brothers or sisters ? One of them may care about you more than you think. If not, like I first wrote, see above.
