Advice on transfering music to one computer - iTouch content

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

Like a few others on TB I got an iTouch for Christmas. I liked what it had to offer and since my old school iPod finally died my mum decided it was time to upgrade. Anyways, like before I`m stuck with the dilemma of having so much music scattered across multiple PCs and having the music then divided up even more in each computer between Windows Media, WinAmp, and a few other media players that I need some ideas. Basically, what do you guys suggest is the best way to get all my music into one place so that I can then transfer them all to my current laptop so that I can put them all on the same iTunes(since apparently you still need to do that BS...). I`m thinking an external hard drive might be the ticket but I was wondering if there was anything cheaper, easier, etc... so that I can transfer my music files all at once to this PC.

Hope that makes sense. Happy Holidays and thanks!

I would go for that external HDD. iTunes has the ability to allow all your computers on your home network to talk to each other about your music library, I believe. If not that, there are several other ways, being winamp remote and windows media player to name a couple. The last two I mentioned I know also support the PS3...which is nice.

Yup, I`m using my bros HDD at the moment and am getting all 18.3 gigs of his stuff and then I`ll be transferring stuff from my old computer onto the HDD to then put on this computer as well. I`ll be cutting it close at around 28 gigs total to the 32 max - assuming it`ll allow most memory to be used strictly for music.

What I use when transfering music is, I just place a section of music on a USB drive, and then just transfer it onto the computer, store it in the "My Music" section of the computer, and then drag/drop right into iTunes and sort it from there. This way I can get all my music in one stop and can easily be able to change computers.
