Didn't they also take a Ukrainian ship full of tanks and such last month? What happened to that one?
The problem is that the ransom is being paid and this has become a very profitable business.

I don't know what the solution is. What if they start paying the crews hazard pay for taking that route, give them heavy artillery, and tell them they are on their own if hijacked? Otherwise, travel around the horn and pay those extra costs. I say this blindly but that's the first thing that comes to my uninformed mind.
