Seems like a common roller coaster (I like that metaphor) is impaired judgement due to alcohol or other alterants.

^I've aways respected JMatt, I may not always agree but he often gives me food for thought. I did like his old avatar better though.

Well, it wasn't that I don't respect the guy. I just have more respect for him now. Again, not that it matters at all what I think of the guy.

I want to keep on playing bass and I want to keep on enjoying the alone time with my wife. Cheating will Eff both of those all up. So I have to say no to cheating. If I wasn't so into my wife still after 23 years, I may lose self control. However, I am one of the lucky ones who truly loves his wife and she constantly gives her love to me. I can't even enjoy sex without her involved.

You are blessed. Kudos to you, sir.

Indeed it is. Reminds me of that thread a while back where a guy on here was asking for tips on how to hold his liquor because he had a play-date with a hot bartender friend of his

Actually, that thread was pretty anticlimactic....

I hear you Mike. I hear good stuff you too. The opinions of some of the people around here do matter to me. This is one of the better places I know of to hear what people think about all kinds of subjects.

It can happen to anybody....and I fell in that direction once myself.

There is no way to put into words the hell that my ex-wife put me thru. It truly was one of those situations where you would have needed to "walk in my shoes for a few miles" to begin to grasp what went on. You name it, it went on. And on.

I'm not looking for justification for my action, all I can say is that I cracked. Despite how bad things at home were I never, ever thought I could do such a thing. I stayed at home with our son, I didn't go to bars and there was no temptation from where I worked at the time. But I fell to a woman of whom I'd known for a very long time and as far as I'm concerned the only thing that came from it was that I totally ruined what was a very good friendship. One that should have lasted for years. On one hand it could be said that my ex deserved it. But my friend didn't deserve it because in the long run I discovered that my act was nothing more than pure revenge.

This was hard to write about.

No worries. Again I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do. I'm just sharing a little info about myself and what has contributed in helping me break from an old lifestyle I held before becoming married and has helped me keep my nose clean.

Another thing - and again this is just something I do. Not saying anyone else has to agree. I'm 99.9% certain that I would not have sex with a woman just because I rode alone in a car with her. The thing is, I don't even want the thought to cross my mind. Not taking that ride alone with the hot co-worker is a big part of avoiding that thought. It's thinking about that and allowing it to toil around in one's head that can eventually break one's resolve down. So that after everything is OK with that first ride, the second one is a little more easy to let the guard down. The third one maybe you star noticing her hot foot wear or eyes. The fourth ride maybe you start thinking what it would be like to hold her. See, where this is going? Again IMO and YMMV.

I always have to think it before I do it. Unless, as previously mentioned there's moderate to large amounts of alcohol involved. Which I gave up, so there isn't. Anything else just seems way too animal for my personal taste.

You guys have got some serious confidence in yourselves. Seem to think that it is only your superior self control that means getting a ride home doesn’t lead to banging her in the back seat.

I could think about it all I like, it still isn’t going to happen. Temptation is a different thing to opportunity.

I see what you're saying but I think you've got it backwards. There can be no temptation without an opportunity. The general conversation as I understand it is operating on the pretext that the opportunity is presenting itself.
