| Here's an intersting story. My brother was a lifelong member of the Canadian Forces, and he was stationed at CFB Edmonton back in the early 1980s. There was a Royal Visit around that time, and while the Queen was doing something or other Prince Philip decided to have a few drinks with the boys. For whatever reason he decided to go to the Sergeants' and Warrant Officers' Mess to drink. My brother, being a Sergeant, got "front row seats" to the happenings. He told me the Prince must have had a wooden leg because he was packing it down with the best of them. He had a huge crowd of servicemen gathered around him, regaling them with stories from his life, and all were having a grand old time. My brother also told me that he swore like a sailor, which isn't surprising considering that, like most of the men in the Royals, he was a sailor! A good time was had by all, and my brother was left with fond memories of Prince Philip!
