Air Force vet in San Diego..

I just separated from the military a couple of months ago, and I'm here in SD with my wife and twin daughters. I've been looking for work since I got out here, but nothing has presented itself. Is there anyone in the SD area that can help me find employment so my wife and baby girls can be provided for? You will NOT be disappointed.

I just discovered this while helping out another vet. The Veterans' Village of San Diego. They help with your job search and provide help with free vocational training in other fields such as:
HVAC renovation
Wind technology
Green automotive technology
Smart Meter installation
Solar Installation
Truck driving
Public safety/weapons permit
Licensed vocational nursing
Certified nursing assistant

This is all free to veterans!

Here's the address and phone number:
VVSD

Good luck dude.

Thank you! I've actually driven by that, but I haven't been able to stop by. I'll definitely have to check it out.

Hey man. Hang in there, from another vet (ex-Army).

For what it's worth, most unemployment offices and VA centers have gotten a lot better about helping with things. You might be able to qualify for certain kinds of paid internships, under the moniker of Vocational Rehab.

If you were any sort of linguist, you must have had great ASVAB scores; I'd use that to your advantage.

Sorry I can't help with anything specific to your region, but trust me, the VA has gotten a lot better most places. They helped my get my current job. Good luck; it will get better.

Thanks for the general encouragement. I'll keep using those resources!

Ever think about working for the Feds - FBI, Homeland Security? Seems to me someone with your skills may be useful to them.

First off - Thanks for your service, I really do appreciate all who serve.

I can't help you from the East Coast, but I just got back from a trip to SoCal and we ended up in San Diego (Conference @ Rancho Bernardo Inn off Rt. 15). I wish you the the best; hope you can find work out there - it's a beautiful area, for sure.

Might be of interest. Good benefits, work for a good corporate citizen, discounted high quality guitars. Best of luck.

I've checked them out, and I'm in consideration for a DHS job doing interpreter and translator work. Federal hiring process moves like molassas in January, though.

If only the job market were as beautiful as the area.. THAT would be awesome. But thank you for the well-wishes. Let's hope they manifest themselves into something good!
