I like nearly every style of both lagers and ales but my go-to beers are ales with a preference for stouts.

+1.

Although my all time favorite is Samuel Smith Old Brewery Pale Ale. Best bottled beer I've ever had.

Why not split the difference?

I like lagers and for my money there's nothing better than a good helles or pilsener on a hot day but I drink ales a lot more often with porter being my favorite style.

Ale drinker here. There's a certain mouthfeel/aftertaste going on with lagers that's just never done right by me.

Ale, 6 years in England one in Germany ruined me for American beer. My usual is Deschutes Mirror Pond, but I like IPAs, Porters and Stouts too.

Lager, for sure.

Lager takes considerably longer to make. For me, just knowing that
they took the time and resources (=$) to make it always give lager the
edge.

There are plenty of fine ales, however.

Ale. Although a lager on a hot day can hit the spot too. So my answer is juanita.
