I was just ordering some DVDs and CDs from Amazon.
When I ordered Predator 2, the Amazon suggestion system showed me the second AVP.
Now, when it comes to new movies over the last 4 years I have been living under a rock.
I didn't even knew they made a second one until some time ago.
I absolutely love the 3 first Alien movies... I worship them, especially the first.
Thought the 4th one sucked.
I love the Predator movies, especially the second with Danny Glover, just awesome.
The first Alien vs Predator... I went to see it in the theatre and seriously considered going to ask for my money back, along with dozens of other hardcore fans who were there.
The reviews on Amazon for AVP Requiem are really bad.
Do people loath this movie so much? Fanatics and casual movie-lovers?
It's 4,97 £.
Do you think it's worth it for me to see how crappy it is for myself?
What did you think of AVP Requiem? |

Although it did have the 'Get to tha Choppah!' line in it, which is always a plus.

I like Predator's use of technology and Alien's acidic saliva.. lol ..and you still get all of that. There's some good action so it's entertaining to me. I guess it depends on your expectations. |

I can believe that it's probably bad... but THAT BAD?
Poor camera work, no decent characters, bad story and disrespecting the elements of the Alien universe.
I can't understand why FOX allowed these travesties.
Well, I'll just order two more Gilmore Girls seasons. |

Huge fan of both storylines...but Requiem was horrible.
...this however, is quite interesting. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1424381/ |

Both of the AVP films fall far short of their awesome potential. Aliens = Good. Predator = Good. No idea why they can't combine the two into a rockin movie.

It had all the cliches in spades: bungling military types, teens too smart for the situations, poor lighting, lame script, total utter disabandon for all that was setup before it (stop trying to convince me these aliens have been on Earth for thousands of years...Weyland Yutani woulda picked up on that...hahaha.
So lame. Don't buy!
And the first Alien V Predator...even worse. The ONLY ting cool was the Queen at the end. But really...a Predator seeking aid from a Human? Please.

In movie 3 they acted like the Alien in Ripley was the last one left, and they need to have it. And in movie 4 they needed to clone Ripley to have a queen-alien.
Here's an idea Weyland Yutani: go to the planet LV-426 and go get some fresh eggs from the derelict ship.
The nuclear reactor blowing up had a blast radius of 40km (according to Bishop). Logicly the derelict ship had to be a lot further away than 40km. If it was within such a radius on a planet that you colonize, and you are terraforming it for a dozen of years the colonists would have found the derelict ship themselves without someone from WY phoning in specific coordinates.
And there would still be eggs left in that ship, cause in the hive in the terroforming facility there was a queen laying eggs, so there was no need for xenomorphs to go fetch some eggs over a very very long distance.
Only one facehugger out of the derelict ship impregnated Newt's dad. (This had to be the queen. ???) And the mom drove the dad back to the colony with a facehugger on him.
There is never an explanation about what happened to the derelict ship. Logic tells it should still be there, with all those eggs aboard. Only two eggs/facehuggers were used. One for Kane (first movie) and one for Newt's dad (second movie). Quote:

Yeah, I hated that too. The Predator and human coorporation was lame.
Man, I loved the games on PC.
They could have made some great movies.
They either overthought it or not thought it through... or both at the same time.
How hard is it to combine a suspense-thriller with a shoot-em-up action movie with some badass Alien/Predator sci-fi? |

| All INCREDIBLY good points...loopholes to drive Mack Trucks through, indeed. And I am unsure if no one checks with one another on plots and scripts, but I think they'll let anyone write and greenlight a Predator film at this point, as the new one coming uout in a couple months has them back again picking up humans, dropping them off on their planet this time, and hunting them.
So wait, you have an underground temple in the North Pole on EARTH to hunt Aliens, as a rite of passage, yet you can't hunt humans ON THE SAME PLANET? You have to bring the humans home? why? so the hunt is stacked in their advantage? Talk about taking a "noble warrior race" and making them uber stupid in their reasonning...I haven't seen a travesty this huge since Warf became a good Klingon, and Darth Vader did it all for the nookie.

Alien, Aliens, and Predator. Three awesome movies, and there are no other films in either franchise... let alone any crossovers.
Except for Predators, that is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u8vZwvP57Y

If you enjoyed "Snakes on a Plane" like me, because it was a really bad horror film, yes you will enjoy AVPR. It's really funny.
