For all the fisherman bassists (especially Aussie fisherman bassists)

My father came up for a visit today and we decided to go to the end of the street I live on to a spot I go fishing to flick a few lures in the creek. After ten minutes of fishing, I landed this beauty.
The fish is called a Flathead, it typically grows to about 20lb but fish that big are extremely rare. This horse pulled the scales down to 14lb, a great result for me on 6lb line. My father was extremely jealous

I have caught many marlin between 200-400lb and even a horse that was over 600lb, but this is a real feather-in-the-cap for me. Biggest of this species I have ever seen, let alone caught. Enjoy!

Cheers,
Jordan

Nice catch! I went out Friday for some surf fishing on the Atlantic coast of USA and we got a mixed bag of dogfish shark, skate, spot, and kingfish. Near the end of the day something hit and just ran. It ended up spooling me after about 20 minutes. Probably a 5 or 6 foot shark. I was totally outgunned with a 10 ft surf rod...guess I need to up the line size.

I definitely know the feeling of being out-gunned!!
Last week I was using 4lb tackle to try and land pelagics...it's near impossible!
Was out-gunned on my Blue Marlin that weighed over 600lb, it hit the lightest line in the spread of skirted lures we had out (30lb tackle) and took me 3 and a half hours to land. Hardest fight I have ever had! Was sun-burnt, sore, suffering from sun-stroke and the blisters on my hands were bleeding by the end of the fight - but god it was worth it to put that research tag in her big shoulder and watch her swim away after reviving her for about half an hour!!

Cheers,
Jordan

We were trying for a couple days offshore last week to chase tuna and dolphin but the seas were too big for our boat. With the long continental shelf here we need to be out 40+ miles before we can get to them. It's a pain in the ass and the wallet.

Yeah it is about 20nm here to the shelf, but we get marlin inside the shelf too - mostly stripes and blacks. The blues frequent the deeper canyons, yet the horse I got was only about 5 miles further from the shelf, and with no bait or significant contour marks on the bottom. Just an out of nowhere strike that blistered off 700m in its first run. Love a good blue, the fight is always tough
