Alright. This is a shot in the dark at best. So I'm running a network of macs. Users log into the machine and their profile is automatically set up based upon their home folders housed on the server. Everything is working flawlessly as far as my control over applications, the default folders where the applications save to, etc, but I'm having a problem with iMovie.
iMovie won't let my users save to their network "movies" folder. Students don't have access to the local machine's hard drive which is the default location where iMovie saves to. Anyone know of a work around that will allow me to redirect iMovies default folder to the users networked 'movies" folder. iMovie 08 and 09 doesn't let the user change the default folder in its preferences. I'm stumped. iMovie is a big part of my student's workload. |

lowsound | You would think, but iMovie only saves to one place. The movies folder on the hard drive of the user's account, but if the user is network based the program doesn't really know what to do. I think this lack of a save as feature is to preserve bandwidth. Still, even with all that said, iMovie HD (version 6) used to do this.
Thanks carlos and trooper, I'm gonna look into this. I could probably drop the script into ard. |

for instance, if i wanted to use Dropbox to sync iCal between computers, i'd have to use a symlink.
me thinks, Trooper 1, NJL 0... it's ok, i'll get him back. LOL
