Speedwise they cannot compete with Intel's quad offerings at this time.

Might be best waiting for the new Intel Nehalem processors to come out. Im with DigMe, Intel's offerings are alot better right now.

That's probably too long of a wait for someone who's looking to upgrade right now. Just go with current Intel offerings.

I'm an AMD fan but yeah at the momment they can't compete with Intel in terms of price or performance. The Quadcore is still buggy.

I so desperately want AMD to be better, but they just aren't at the moment. When I built my PC, AMD were miles ahead, but in a shot amount of time they lost all of their lead and, I believe, a large amount of their stock value.

That said, AMD quads are not terrible, and they are a lot cheaper, it's all about fit for purpose.

Quad aren't cheaper than Intel's, they're actually more expensive at equal performance.
