That's horrible, it hurts me to think that someone would ever feel so bad.

I was assigned to 3rd ID during that deployment, though I did not know PFC Dwyer personally, we certainly knew his picture. It was my first unit assignment, fresh out of the Officer's Basic Course. I was in desperate need of knee surgery, one of 5 that I had while in the military, so I was not sent on that deployment. I suppose that I am lucky, as there are many more soldiers in his condition and the VA has yet to figure out how to care for them. This is truly a sad story and I think that it speaks volumes of the need for more psychiatric care for returning veterans.

More common than you'd think. People should have to read these stories, and see the pics and videos of what really goes on before voting their buffoon of choice into office.

Back on track now, it's extremely sad that a veteran who signs up for duty with the promise that they will be compensated for their service in the future with benefits always end up 'falling through the cracks'. I can't count how many times I had to turn away retirees because there was only enough money in the budget for active duty.
I could go on about the perception of war these days, but I don't think there is enough bandwidth to accomodate my writings.

Leave it to someone to inject politics into this.
