"The Americans" -if you like Homeland you'll get hooked on this

Long time live in KGB agents with teenage American children playing spy games while Reagan is trying to get them. Good stuff.

First episode was slow. Need to re-watch it on the DVR.

I'm excited about the premise, but hopefully the pace picks up.

I loved it. Thought it was awesome!!!

Definitely have high expectations based on the first episode! Definitely looking forward to the next episode tonight! (assuming our freaking new cable ever works right)

I liked it very much. It probably even exceeded my expectations. Of course, I'm very interested in the Cold War period; so that may be a factor, too. I thought Keri Russell was perfect in this role. I still identify her with other characters. The fact that she embraces this role so convincingly is a good thing.

Downunderwonder 02-06-2013 03:37 PM

I just thought she was hawt.

I can see the cheering for the baddies going into overdrive with these guys as Homeland did with Brodie.

They bumped it to a late night slot here. I told myself I would give it away but the last episode was too good. Loved seeing Momma KGB get hers.

I'm enjoying this on Hulu! Definitely one of those shows you have to pay attention to but totally worth it!

I'm a fan ....i DVR it so I can skip the commercials ...

twocargar 03-13-2013 10:49 PM

Wow, Felicity has definitely grown up. I dig her wigs too. :D Great show!

I'm lukewarm on this show. The premise is interesting but the writing and acting are nowhere near the level of Homeland. The jokes and plot twists are kind of corny and the sex scenes are gratuitous. On the bright side, the music is great and it does take me back to the days of my youth.

DVR it every week - great show.
I never saw Homeland.

bluesblaster 03-23-2013 08:42 AM

Archer is funnier

Exactly! I'm trying to stay with it/give it a chance. It doesn't seem to have gone anywhere plot-wise since week 2. Same old moral and conscious dilemmas repeated again and again. Hoping that it all comes together and moves forward soon.

On a plus note, Keri Russell is soooo hawt!! She wears that 80's wardrobe better most of the girls did back when I was in high school. And as said before, the music is great. Oh what a trip down, hormone-driven teenager, memory lane. :D

I couldn't get into Archer.. The Americans is good though..

HeavyDuty 03-23-2013 04:10 PM

I'm enjoying The Americans, and her butt in those high waisted jeans too.

Rocker949 03-23-2013 05:13 PM

I never could get into Homeland even though I should. I like The Americans quite a lot. I have a few problems with the writing, but it's still a very good show, far better than most. There is something about Homeland that doesn't draw me in. It's almost like a feel the people doing the show don't care if you watch it or not. Maybe it's because they have so many awards, they really don't care.

They had several writers given credit for different episodes, might explain the up and down tension levels.

What was Philip's racy coupe in the final episode?

If it was this one, a Chevy Nova.
