Android Gingerbread update

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone else using it? I updated my phone about half an hour ago and my first thought was Boy, that's ugly. I was expecting it to just be an under-the-hood update but maybe it'll grow on me.

What do yall think?

What is this "gingerbread" you speak of? If its the update that makes the market fugly, then yes I've got it.

I updated my droid x a while back and I got used to it. One way to know if you have it is when you hit the home button twice you see all 5 screens instead of having to scroll through all of them. That's the noticeable visual difference.

I love it so far... at least aesthetically. It doesn't seem to run any different han FroYo.

@nogoodwithnames (nice name, btw ) The Market update is separate. I actually like the look but it's very obviously more heavyweight than it's previous incarnation which makes actually doing anything in the market a drag. The old one wasn't the coolest looking thing around but it was fast and, ultimately, when I just wanna go download something, speed is all I need.

I never had FroYo; this is the first I've updated my phone since I got it. I've got to fiddle with it more but there are so many pointless graphic 'enhancements' that I could mistake it for an Apple product....

Samsung Captivate/v1 Galaxy S here, it's totally effed my phone in the aye. It's not Google's fault, though; Samsung uses their own broken, proprietary Frankenstein version of Android that when updated completely turned it upside down. From what I've read the only way to fix my phone is to root it and manually delete Samsung and AT&T's crapware.

I think I have gingerbread. At first it was the most annoying thing. My phone would constantly tell me that I have unheard messages, and display the voice message symbol. I had no new messages, and would appear every 20 minutes or after every text. I had to go to the settings and clear the notification manually to compensate and that would get very annoying very quickly. I would get excited to think someone decided to send me a text, just to find out it was an error... and not even a cool error like a hot chick accidently sending you nudies.

Oh god, thank god I read this since I have the same phone and service. How come it always feels like we get the updates when they've already been out for a 1.5 years? Thats got to be the worst thing about this phone...

Funny, my Aria has done that since v2.1....but I only had to hit the home button once (when it's on the main screen). *shrug*

Actually, the broke-dick proprietary software is courtesy of AT&T, not Samsung....I had the same issues with my Aria.

my Android phone is too old

I'm thinking of limping along another year (going for 3 years) on my Samsung Moment and picking up an Archos 80 G9 (maybe the 10.1) when they hit the market.
