I'm curious if anyone out there has had any experience with the slew of Android-based internet tablets designed to take on the iPad? The leader of the pack, from what I can tell, is the Archos 101, as seen here: http://www.amazon.com/ARCHOS-101-Int...=pd_rhf_shvl_2
The specs seem pretty solid, and it does a whole heck of a lot more than the iPad (USB inputs, HDMI output, plays a variety of media types), and it costs $150 less than an iPad, but the real question is "Does it do them better than the iPad? |

No one can beat the iPad battery life which was the deal breaker for me. Four hours of WiFi will not cut it in my world. I got well over six yesterday on my iPad, and that was nearly constant use....chekcing e-mails, watching NFL highlights, tracking scores, shopping, posting here, etc.
I don't know the Archos name well enough at this point to buy their first attempt at an Android tablet.

One of the ship captains I see on the regular trade lines has ordered one and will be back here in about 2 months. I am anxious to see what his experiences will be.

The keyboard / dock looks cool too. |

-Mike | From what I can tell, Archos is pretty well regarded for their tablets. It seems like they are sort of their bread and butter, and have been for a while.
Plus, the whole Android tablet platform is pretty new, so not too many manufacturers have had a chance to build one yet. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
