Annoying Coworker

Sign in to disble this ad
So. We all have them. Mine gets his kicks by painting others in a bad light. I could write a good essay on what I think might be mentally wrong with him, but I'll stick with the basics for now.

When I trained him, he noticed I took the stapler from the courthouse we had been working for a few months. I explained that it was mine and that I normally bring all of my own supplies. I'm a traveling Office Depot.

That was 2 years ago. He still tells my coworkers about the time I stole the stapler. He's concocted a very unimaginitive story about how I jack supplies from all the courthouses I work and that my office is stocked with stolen goods.

So. At our office everyone labels their stuff. We are all independent contractors and a lot of it is privately owned. The owner and I get along quite well and I borrowed his labeller after a quick explanation.

Now all of my stuff has his name on it. Stapler, hole punch, tape dispenser, pens....my office looks like I liquidated his. My coworker noticed earlier this week when he came in to borrow something he is too cheap to buy. I told him I've been slowly taking it out of the owner's office for a few months. He believes me and has begun telling others in the office.

I giggled to myself all day.

Mike

Find some celebrity's name to put on your phone. Put other celebrities in the contacts, that actually dial some erotic line.

See if he calls Perez Hilton.

Finger Pointers, Credit Swoopers (the folks that do nothing fora project and then swoop in at the end and take all the credit -- usually the same guy as the Finger Pointer), Time Bandits -- they all suck.

That's your definition of an annoying co-worker? You got it made if that is all you have to deal with.

What I don't get is that you start a thread on the guy, and your chief complaint is that HE paints others in a bad light?

In reverse order:

a) Good point.
b) I haven't even scratched the surface. I could literally write a good paper on him and what I think might be wrong.

Uh oh....one of those guys. Well good on you for the conservative approach.

I haven't found anyone like you describe at my new job, but I also haven't met everyone in our company yet. I'm sure he/she is lurking out there in a cube somewhere on one of our floors.

I have literally become speechless at some of his antics. He might be "one of those", but he's the first one I've ever had to work with.

annoying and downright nasty co-workers is something I have regrettably gotten used to. In my last job, I had a co-worker who was completely out of line with things. She was the boss's/owner's daughter and naturally did nothing around the office besides goof off, smoke pot every 15 min, and make fun of the other people in the office by photoshopping their faces on offensive pictures for shock value and posting it all over the walls.

At first i did not want to seem uptight, so i laughed it off. As the months progressed, i was getting less and less tolerant of her antics, until finally, I completely stopped talking/acknowledging her in the office altogether. Well needless to say, about a month into that I got a call from her dad(the boss) informing me I no longer had the job.

All i can say is good riddens...now putting up with that kind of outright stupidity was a real bad experience.

It's funny...annoying colleagues usually stop messing with me and my department after the first time they drive one of us nuts.

Screwing with the IT guys is never a good idea. It's kind of like pissing off a monitor engineer.
