Annoying replies on craigslist?

So this guy has asked me to trade numerous times (like 7 times) for my Peavey Cirrus USA Walnut 4 String. He's offered me a whole bunch of stuff I did not care for and is telling me I'm making a mistake by not trading.

Finally I told him I'll give it to him for $600 and his Peavey TVX 210 EX 2X10 Bass Speaker Cabinet.

Now he tells me this"

"Listen, I know what we spoke about. I have 300 cash. If you want the Cab and the Head, Ill include the Rackcase and the High Flow cable. Thats like 500 of gear plus 300 cash. And Im already asking a much more fair price for my stuff than you are. Let me know. If your down we can meet in Manalapin Sunday morning."

I thought my price was fair I wanted $800 it came with the OHSC and Dunlop Dual Design Strap locks on it and was in great condition. Apparently he doesn't think my offer of $600 and his cab is fair.

Anyone ever have this happen to them? Honestly this guy is just getting annoying to me.

Your price was more than fair for a USA Cirrus.

I'd tell the guy to get lost.

Welcome to Craigslist.

I have something on CL currently (not a musical instrument). It's brand new in the box, costs $250, and I'm selling it for $125.

So what happens ?

The first guy who emails me says "will you take $60 for it?" - yep, I ignored that idiot.

The next guy who said he wanted it...well, we made plans and I wasted half the day waiting for the guy...he never called to even say he decided against it or couoldn't make it.

Next person ? Same dang thing. So I can feel your pain, my friend.

This guy has been messaging me every time I post an ad for it on CL. He usually offers me the same things and doesn't realize my decision won't really change. In a more recent e-mail:

"Hey bro still trying to get rid of that Cirrus? Get over the crown inlays. My Spector plus 50.

http://newyork.craigslist.org/stn/msg/1621105858.html

Hook it up bro. A year is a long time to be selling. The economy Sucks..."

I haven't even had the Cirrus for sale for a year and his Spector has been on craigslist just as long as it and he still can't see I'm not interested in it.

or he is one of the countless people who feel book value does not apply to anything he personally owns.

+1 My experience has shown me nothing but bottom feeders on CL. YMMV

Sounds more like he has crap he doesn't want and knows no one will buy it if he tries.

When I sell via craigslist is anticipate at least 50% of the responses to be crap like this. More so if it's a popular item. My number one rule on CL is that I know what I want to get for my item and ignore anything otherwise. If someone makes a reasonable offer, or close to a reasonable offer, I will negotiate somewhat, but I Know what my stuff is worth and what I can reasonably get for it if I decide to sell elsewhere (ebay, TB) so I usually stick to rule number one.

I ran an old peavey 2-15 bass cab on CL a while back, and had some real fruitloop's respond to my add. First off the bass cab is old made in the 70's, in fair shape no rattles in speakers, overall decent cab if you don't have a lot of dough. Keep in mind I was only asking $75 for it. I had one guy trying to beat me up on the price (which is cool why pay $75 when you can get it for $60), then I had another cat wanting pictures of every square inch of the cab and serial #'s yada yada, and not to mention the guy who wanted to know if I would deliver it to Chattanooga (which is two hours away) for free.
Needless to say the 60 dollar man never came through, and the serial numbers guy said he wasn't interested because the tolex was mostly gone. I still have the cab in my basement...... I would've given it to someone if they would have atleast made the effort to come pic it up, and where else could you get a functional bass cab for 60 or 75 bucks or even FREE. I haven't had any luck with the CL thing buying or selling.

I actually like getting weird responses from my craigslist ads even though it would be nicer to have an actual sale. Have fun with your responses, I know I do.

That really sucks. I've had a couple good deals on CL. I got a Music Man Stingray for $600. The guy was very nice and the Ray was in great shape.

Yes, I actually pulled my most recent ads. Ridiculously low offers, lots of scam and phishing emails. It wasn't like this a few years ago the last time I used the service. I wound up using Ebay and got more than what I was asking on Craigslist for a couple of my items, less for another. Had to pay Ebay a bunch of $$ for the service though.

My favorite is when I wanted to trade my Geddy Lee Jazz for another Fender. I put $1 for the price in the title because you have to put SOME price, but in the short description I put FOR TRADE ONLY, NO SALE...and of course I get emails from multiple idiots...

"Hey dude, still have the Geddy Jazz bass for $1? If so, can I have it? I'll even give you $10"

I never responded

Yeah I've only had a couple dealings via CL but I am happy with my latest trade...I traded my Fender Strat to a guy for a LMII + Aggie GS112 and GS112NT cabs (all 3 in like new condition). Since I rarely play guitar and I got it from the Musicians Friend clearence center scratch and dent for $700, I feel pretty good about it.

Yea, I have done the Ebay thing as well very pricey to sell there. I have actually had really good luck buying and selling gear on the classifieds here. I haven't found deadbeats or nonpayer's. Good to deal with honest folks who are everyday players.
