Jersey Shore: Abercrombie and Fitch Offers to Pay 'The Situation' To Stop Wearing Its Clothes - Speakeasy - WSJ

This is awesome. I wonder if I can get Keith Roscoe and Carey Nordstrand to pay me not to play their basses in public?

That cracks me up. Those D-bags on Jersey Shore are exactly the demographic A&F is targeting. Hell, A&F practically created that culture. It's just another way for A&F to get people talking about their brand. Their product is sh** but A&F has always been on top of the marketing thing.

I don't even notice the AF stuff when I watch. Of the 4 seasons I really can't remember much if any wardrobes w/ AF stuff on it that stands out.

Ed Hardy tiger pajama pants, however?? Hellllz yeah son

Is AF still considered "cool" by kids anymore? I mean it was "in" when I was in HS in the late 90s but yeah.

That has the look of a sound business decision.

Of course it does-
you publicly "unattach" yourself from the most popular member of one of the most popular shows on TV which was someone you never had an official endorsement or any sort of business relationship to, to get your name out there and be linked going forward to said show and character.
It's brilliant on AF's part- just not for why you think it is.

If paid Yahoo, would they stop showing me headlines about Jersey Shore, Lady Gaga, and Casey Anthony? That would be nifty....

I think Cory Booker is doing some good things in Newark.

We used to make fun of guys that came to our shows that looked like they were dumped out of an Abercrombie and Fitch catalog. We would look at each other and do the motion of shaking something out of a newspaper.

That is all.

I think it's about as safe a public position as you can take . . . aside from taking out a full-paged ad in the NY Times stating that your company is definitely 100% against infanticide.

Plus the free publicity.

Heh, cute. My girlfriend watches the show (one of the few things we disagree on is reality TV) and she's moving in with me in a couple weeks. I've already made it plain that about the best she can hope for is that I'll sit in the same room and noodle on the bass or read while she's watching it.

2 weeks after she moves in you'll be hooked.

I found it pretty funny that a brand associated with douchebag-ish attitude would say to Jersey Shore, "Holy crap, guys, there's a limit."

I won't deny it's a possibility; I've gotten sucked into shows before that I never thought I would watch. But in this case, I doubt it.
