We had a local chili gathering here, which was also the perfect opportunity to stuff my freezer full of fresh chili for me to last over the winter! So, this is what I've been up today:
Clockwise from the top; some chopped up red jalapenos in the can, chopped "normal" red & yellow chili, red Brazilian starfish chili, and of course the all-time orange crowdpleaser: habaneros.
I especially dig the Brazilian starfish. It's about as strong as jalapeno, but if you cut the weirdly shaped fruit horizontally, you get really cool large flower-like slices:
I also had the opportunity to taste the king of chilies, the infamous Naga Jolokia (aka the ghost pepper) - and it was an opportunity I gladly DIDN'T take, after watching a couple of guys take a bite. Their faces were interestingly going from white to red, with some tears and saliva dripping down their chins. I decided that I can probably wait until next year
