Guys, My Pop upgraded his phone to the Droid X. He's gonna let me play with it to see if I might want to try one.
Any tips?
Suggestions?
Experiences?
God Bless, Ray

I plan on working to turn it into a usable musical tool by developing some apps and/or widgets. Particularly, I'd like to build a suite of Jam tools. Any suggestions would be very welcome, and my ideas thus far are as follows:
* JamNotes - Record audio from the session and tag it with comments/notes on the overall track or at specific times in the track.
* Looper - A robust live audio looper. This will be a difficult pursuit, but I will start small and work my way up. I would like to incorporate functionality at least on par with the standard compact pedals, but my goal is something more along the lines of the EHX 2880 or Boomerang III.
* BassGuitar - A straightforward, playable bass guitar on the phone. This may already be available, but I haven't found it yet. Ideally I would like to incorporate the ability to sample your own bass. This would let you take your bass with you wherever you have your phone. If possible, I'd also like to allow users to upload their sample set and share it with other users.
So anyway.......
Yeah Droid X FTW. I recommend it highly.

I wanted to look at the Droid 2 and compare, but the X is a better fit for me.
Now the waiting begins. They said 8/30. We'll see. |

If Verizon was a better choice for me, that Droid X looks real nice too. |

I really really like the big screen, and coming from an iPhone I really like how open based it is, and the app mart is surprisingly not very bad. Not too many games, but utilities are a good one.
If you need any help with it, just PM me and I'll help you out.

I've played with the X and it's kinda bulky for my tastes. Great device though. I'd go for an Incredible if I got it for free.
God Bless, Ray

pandapaul....I have not found the app you are talking about, but I did find a TalkBass Forums app.

It does not work while the phone is locked with a pin, which is required by some Exchange environments. I ended up having to grab Choice Dialer, which absolutely sucks in the recognition department, but at least CAN work fully hands-free.

He downloaded an app for it that allows him to access his desktop at home when he's on the road so that's nifty. I played around with it the other day and personally the thing is too big for me, but definitely a cool phone. |

God Bless, Ray | From Verizon. My 2yr contract is up so I get $100 credit towards a new phone. I was looking online for what I could pick up free, as I got my last phone the LG Voyager for free, and came across the Incredible at $199 with 2 yr contract, plus a $100 instant online rebate. So I got a $530 phone for just tax, came out to $51.

A way to send MP3s via text message. I think Handcent can do it, but I don't like that app overall. So maybe a file explorer app that allows you to do it? I tried to get the guys who make @Explorer (LYSESOFT) to do it, but they said it isn't a priority but I could pay them $175 an hour to do it right away.
How about a feed reader that goes out and downloads the feeds that supply PDFs? I don't want just the feed headline, but to download the content as well. In this case, I subscribe to a feed that puts out a PDF. I need it to be downloaded to my SD card automatically. None of the readers I tried now do that.

It is endorsed by the owner of TalkBass. I use it on my Droid, and it is very slick.
Cool idea on the trick. Quite a few people have rigged up their own car dock based on what you figured out.
