Any fans of Lunar: Silver Star Story?

Well the title pretty much sums up the thread. Lunar: Silver Star Story, classic rpg on par with earlier final fantasy games.

A bit of history for the release versions (consoles listed in order):

Sega Genesis
Sega CD
Sega Saturn
Sony Playstation

And for those who don't know, Lunar is back, once again. This time with updated graphics and battle system upgrades, with some added content. Lunar: Silver Star Story was recently re-released in its new form Lunar: Silver Star Harmony by XSeed games and Game Arts for Sony PSP as of March 2nd, 2010.

My personal favorite release was Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete for sony playstation 1, released by Working Designs (shame WD is gone now...).

The game still retains a lot of its classic feel, despite the updated graphics, and addition of an AI option to the battle menu. Not quite as difficult as the playstation version, but wholly appropriate for a handheld system.

PM'ed some extensive info. Short answer is yes, it is always the same game, but modified with each new release to add something to the mix.

Just thought of more info...

With Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (sony psx, Working Designs), on the making of Lunar disc, it details thoroughly the differences in the earlier 3 releases in contrast to SSSC. Most of the changes were brought about by advancements in format memory (cartridge vs cd), and capabilities of the consoles.

Lunar: Silver Star (original release, sega genesis)- first iteration of the game, never truly completed the story due to lack of cartridge memory.

Lunar: Silver Star Story (sega cd release)- added in audio and basic video thanks to new storage capacity of cd media. Otherwise it really is the same game as the first iteration.

Lunar: Silver Star Story (Saturn release)- first iteration to complete the story appropriately, also the first to feature full motion video (fmv).

Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (sony psx)- features over 1 hour of fmv sequences, package contains more bonus items than any other release. Game covers 2 discs as the story is rounded out and ends in the most complete manner ever. Game was discontinued in 2000 by Working Designs to provide rarity to the game for collectors.

Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (sony psp, Xseed games)- Basically the same exact game, however the graphics have been updated from being original 16-bit style to a newer format. Audio and video have been remastered. Map layouts have changed to freshen things up. Boss level AI is dropped (SSSC had a special ai system for bosses to make them harder against higher level characters). Maps are also scaled down to conserve media space. Party and individual AI battle options are added, as well as new special attacks that work on a gauge basis. Having completed demo data on your psp memory stick will give the ability to attain an item much earlier in game than you would normally be able to.
