The singer I work for has asked me to make updates to her site, and I have never worked with Flash. I can update the gigs and main page fine, but she has a new bio that won't fit into the window. I need to use a scrolling text box. A friend sent me the Ultimate Scroller component, but I'm not understanding how to put the text into it. I've got it on the stage and altered the parameters to be the size I want, but now what?
Thanks

Once you've done that drag the object from the library onto the stage. You can adjust the size, transparency, placement as a complete object better than if you just type the text onto the stage. |

No idea on creating a movie clip, so turn it into a Photoshop file and go from there? If you go to Barbara's website you can see the window size I'm trying to work in.

Then you can select graphic, button, movie clip. Select graphic, or movie clip. Each will have it's own timeline and stage. Create the text there and then go back to the main stage and pull it from the library |

I have the original fla that has a scrolling bio in it, but I can't make it point to my new file. I knew what I was doing back in the Shockwave/Director days. aarrrgggghhhh! been out of this stuff for over 7 years now.

Works good because it uses dynamic text without aliasing. Which means you can use pixel fonts for better display. It should work on MX and newer vesrions. If you're still way back on flash 5 let me know and I can hook you up with the ActionScript to build a scroller using the onClip Event Handler, but it's a lot more labor intensive. MX on has a lot more east to use components.
