Any Hydroponic Gardeners Here??

Lets not turn this into a drug discussion!!

I just bought my wife an Aerogarden to grow herbs (legal ones) in the kitchen. It's a cool system but I can already see us getting more equipment to grow veggies and probably orchids. My wife is a PLANT/GARDEN NUT and loves the concept of Hydroponics. We just went to a really cool store in Largo that sells all the equipment and I think she's hooked.

Anyone here into Hydroponics???

Well, I might try to grow some of "the spice". If I could fold time, I might actually get some work done in the shop. I don't care about my eyes turning blue

We are probably going to build a PVC rig to grow tomatos outside. It will be on wheels in case we get really bad weather. From what I saw today, I could build one hell of an outdoor tomato grower for about a hundred bucks. Not having to fart around with dirt and cultivation is a cool thing. My wife will probably get set up with some sort of indoor system.

I have about 20 magazines and two books to read. I think I'm getting hydrogasssssss

He'll have to negotiate with the Guild for transport of some little makers from Arrakis. The big question is actually getting them off-planet without the Fremen catching you in the act of trying. They might not take kindly to it.

Personally, I'm going to side with the Fremen on this one, I don't think I'd care for living on a desert planet....they can keep that for themselves.

Got to love a good Dune reference...

I'd say FL Knifemaker did a great job weeding out the drug references in this thread.

Yeah, it just shows that I spent far too much of my late teens and early 20's with my head stuck in Frank Herbert books.

I actually thought about using sand trout in my original smart@$$ reply, but then realized that they may not deal well with confinement, as they are used to having the entire desert to wander in. A little maker can live indefinitely in a small enclosed space, until they are used to create the water-of-life, so they'd be easier to transport....I would assume releasing them into a desert would allow them to begin to grow again, but that's is indeed just a supposition....

...am I too much of a Dune geek?

Good thing too, this thread could have certainly gone to pot if he hadn't.

We used to build a bunch of their products at my Dad's Metal Fab shop. They were soooo mellow to deal with, Hmmmm I wonder why?

Because hydroponic gardeners are all about chillin' out on a comfy couch and watching the plants grow.

But aren't the tasteless grocery store tomatos grown this way? And aren't I sitting here wishing that I had your Fla weather up here in Oiho right about now, so that my veggies would start growing? I don't get it.

We got oursleves one of them there AeroGardens also. After four weeks, it is huge. I can't wait till we can start reaping from it.

I was looking it over real good the other day and trying to see how I could expand it and grow some more veggies. It's a great concept, and looks pretty easy to replicate on a larger scale.
