Anyone, or any lawyers on here , that may know, if you get something sent to you from e-bay, but it wasn't what you bought, and it's worth ten times the price of what you bought, do you need to send it back, or can you keep it??

If it was something totally different, ever think that someone else could have paid for the item you got and is out of pocket a lot of money?

The guy who got the $100 bass instead of the $1000 bass (Or whatever the item is) will dispute, the seller will go to you, and you don't want to have to say, "Uh, I sold it." |

If not, do the right thing. Contact the seller and return it. |

That said, I agree with the person who noted that the seller might have just mixed up two addresses, in which case they'll be contacting you soon, and you don't want to be caught empty handed.

I'd sit on it for a couple of months at least. | How someone responds to think kind of thing is real telling to the kind of person you are.
"We gotta get by"?! What kind of crap is that?
This isn't - or at least does not sound like - a case of someone just selling something for less than it's worth. When you put something up on eBay it's fair game. Don't list it properly? Well, this is what can happen and it's not the buyers fault.
However, when someone obviously makes a mistake and sends you something you did not pay for - and you keep it? That's dishonest and in my house you'd be a thief. Ever had something stolen? It sucks. If you're the kind of person who would do that, well you suck too. |

a. Return it. Item was probably meant for someone else.
b. keep it. You don't go into a garage sale with a 63 jazz for $100 and tell them it's worth 5k, you just buy it. |

The pawn shop is still just someone running a business covering their costs, and most I see aren't rolling in money.
Unless it was something like cash converters, they screw both sellers and buyers.

Rule #1: Respect your fellow members
All registered users must address fellow members with the utmost respect at all times. If you do not agree with a fellow member, be courteous in your response. Thomas Jefferson said it best: "When I hear another express an opinion which is not mine, I say to myself, he has a right to his opinion, as I to mine".
Because of the limitations of text based communication, the expression of intent can be tricky. One of the most common triggers of rule violations is the misinterpretation of intent behind a post. Use smilies often, and remember, it never hurts to begin a response with "In my opinion"...
If you do not address everyone on the board with respect, be prepared to lose your membership.

I don't believe for a second that no one on this forum has wanted to or thought about taking advantage of an opportunity to make a quick buck. I concede that 99.9% of us would do the right thing and I'm pretty certain that the OP will do the right thing as well.

Honesty is not a two way street.

I would let them know what happened and it's their responsibility to fix it. Quote:
