Any "Moonshiners" Fans?

Is anyone else here as intrigued as I am by the Moonshiners TV show on Discovery?
The new season started with some new faces, and the return of Tim & Tickle.

I've never tried "Shine", but I see they have it in stores now.

I saw some of them, not sure if it was all of them.

It was pretty interesting.

They might want to put Tickle "on the wagon", though, while brewing up the stuff.

Many years ago I went to a party, and someone had brought some shine, so I just had to try some. As a drink it makes an excellent paint stripper, engine degreaser, and garden pest controller. YECCCHHH!!

The moonshine "apple pie" is sooo goood.

I think its all trumped up tv drama. If it were real, they would have all the evidence they need to have the characters in the show thrown in jail

I've heard it's fake.

I've tried moonshine once or twice. Holy hell, it was awful.

got through half an episode and this was all I could think. shut it off. my facebook is littered with statuses about the show every time its on.

I believe distilling in the US is illegal without proper licenses.

Probably, but I do like watching the construction of the stills, and staying ahead of the cops is always fun ... love the rush of the risk.

If theyre dilluting it then it isnt real moonshine, and if theyre selling it then they must all be properly licensed.

Your best shine comes from the Albany, GA area. BTW, its pronounced "all - benny".

Your better shine doesn't taste awful but is powerful. It should have a little burn on the way down.

I haven't seen it, but my buddy was talking about it the other day.

I don't have any interest in illegally selling booze, but as long as you diligently followed proper safety procedures, I think it'd be pretty fun to distill your own for non-commercial purposes. Hell, it'd be fun as a hobby/small batch commercial enterprise if the licensing isn't prohibitively expensive. I mean the homebrew beer thing is so played out, why not up the ante?

I would agree that it might be fun to learn to properly distill. Most shiners don't care about the safety of their product...then again, neither do the regular consumers of moonshine.

It takes a lot of know how to get it done right and you're boiling liquids that are flammable, so.....

Most homebrew recipes make 2 cases of beer or about 5 gallons. Not sure how a home distilling recipe would work or if they'd make oak barrels small enough for aging.

My old man would just say, don't tell anyone you bought it, and you should be ok.
I rarely had any so I didn't really worry about it. And when I did we would be in a field in the middle of nowhere so it didn't really matter.
