Are there any out there? Tourny players, rec ballers, woodsballers, scenario players?
I figured since the site has an OT section i may as well see who else enjoys what is imo the best sport in the world. Doesnt matter if youre experienced or not, we can talk about it all here.
I work at/run a field in western Michigan if theres an off chance enough poeple from that area wantot get together and play.

Hopefully I'll find the time (and cash) to go again this summer at some point.
I was using the Tippman Model 8 gun...what's the 'standard' on your side of the pond?

| | | | What do you mean standard? Tippmanns are pretty standard as far as starter guns and rentals go. Same with spyders (more so for a starter gun, a little tempermental for rental).
Im familiar with and have owned everything from rentals to tournament level guns worth 1-3 grand.
Ive dropped tons of money on the sport in the past when i played tournaments. If one thing is true about paintball it is that its usually not cheap. lol
EDIT: Added my youtube channel to the first post. Has a bunch of gun vids, private groups at the field, and some of me playing (i think).

Take out the opposing team, grab flag, run it back. It gets old... and everyone wants to play it... always. I prefer scenario games with multiple objectives if i'm not playing annihilation or "rabbit". Get to use paint grenades and smoke bombs= bonus. Defender isn't too bad... but it's still a little too close to ctf for my tastes.
As per standard marker over here, a lot of fields still use the model 98 2nd revision (new body without the "fins"). There are a few fields that have gone to the A5, and still several that have switched over to the "space guns" which is just a dressed up 98 in this odd shell. As per markers that people bring to fields, the tippmanns and spyders are most common. Then there's the standard "bought my marker at walmart" specials from JT and Brass Eagle.
Right now here in OH, there is a bit of an issue with field paint. Seems nobody is using Nelson or ProCaps, and all you can find at the field is RPS garbage. The big pb stores here tend not to rotate the paint and you always seem to get misshapen pb's, and they're really the only ones right now that are selling the decent brands of paint.

| | | | I havnt ever played a scenario game which is odd since michigan hosts some of the biggest scenario games in the US at Hells Survivors. The problem is its field paint only and they charge a ton per case.
I also havnt played woodsball in like 10 years. lol
Mostly rock the smaller airball or equivilant fields. I prefer faster paced games. The tournament scene was fun for a few years but it REALLY wears on you.

At least with a scenario like the ones at hells survivors they have decent paint. Go to a scenario at splatterpark here in OH, and you get to use... wrek... lowgrade wrek elite. A paintball that goes for about $29/case in a paintball store... they want $45-50 for at splatterpark. Field paint only there.
At least one good thing has started to happen. Now the hpa tanks are getting nice and cheap, so it's finally affordable to get rid of the Co2 tanks. Really digging the guerilla air 45/3000 with the myth reg. on it. Sure beats lugging the PMI 72/3k around. Not to mention the reg size is a lot better on the myth. Lets it sit closer to the asa without pushing the bottle out past the rifle stock on my tippmann.
I like being a sneaky bastage. It's a lot more relaxed on the woods fields. But even given that, even I have at least a Nerve vision sitting around. I'm still in the process of getting it set up. Problem is that I can't get the cp reg apart to do maint. on it. Need to put in the LPA kit into the cp reg to limit the pressure going into the nerve, but can't get the thing apart into its 3 sections. Half tempted to scrap the cp reg for something that I can attach a steel-braid airline onto. Macroline to me doesn't seem like it would deal well with getting caught on branches, etc...
One of these days I want to try out my roommate's AGD Automag.

| | | | Yeah, HPA tanks are stupid cheap now. Our field has switched over to only air and just have co2 in case we need it or someone wants to pay for it.
I would ditch the CP reg. I know a lot of CP fanboys think those regs are great but imo they are junk.
Macroline is much more user friendly than steel braided hose and costs less to keep up. Getting it snagged on stuff shouldnt be an issue really. Just do yourself a favor and dont be that guy running a remote line....
A mag was my first gun when i started playing, great guns and its a shame the company stopped making products and sold off pretty much its entire iventory. Tom Kaye is still coming up with cool stuff though like his mini compressor. I had a few mag vids (emag, xmag, etc.) on my youtube channel but a couple years ago my vids got deleted and i didnt have all of them on ym computer to re upload.
SP pretty much killed AGD and AKA. Karma is a bitch though and now SP went under. lol

Played with a team for a short while before I realized it cost me far too much money and time and caused me far too much pain after sliding into a bunker and thinking I left my kneecap behind.
The local shop that sponsored me went out of business and it went all downhill from there. Haven't played in years, but I keep talking about getting back out there from time to time with buddies.

| | | | Yeah, tourny play just cost way to much money which is why i quit. I sold my gun setup and gearbag with extra crap for like $1200 to help with tuition. I kept all of my playing gear and either borrow a gun or use a cheapy when i play. Def helps save on the money since i cant fling paint with a cheapo tippman or other mechanical gun.

| | That's the way uh huh uh huh I like it.. | | Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Robbinsville, NJ | | | Played for almost 20 years before I got sick of the attitudes, cheating and egos as of late. Now I pretty much play airsoft exclusively which I find to be much more like what paintball was in the early days.
Not to say that all paintball is bad or anything, I'm sure that there are still plenty of great players having great games out there but just that my opinion of it had taken a major nose dive over the past few years based on personal experience.

Besides deathmatch and Team A x Team B, my favorite scenario is Nuke the Bunker. 2 teams start at different bases, and there's a "nuke" hidden in one of the boxes in the middle of the battlefield. The team must get the nuke, place it at the enemies base and yell BOOM to win.

So many damn young kids who are spoon fed by their parents and dont care about their actions. That and a bunch of lowers who cant stay out of truoble. The cheating is just insane no matter what level you play at. More practice goes into figuring out how to wipe a hit than shooting the other team.
Like i said, thats why i stick with rec players and stuff. So much more laid back and relaxed. Quote:

The rush for me is shooting people, not completing objectives and standing around forever.
