Any pilots here?

Hey all,

been a long time since i've posted.

Recently I took an interest in flying and got in touch with an instructor and began the journey. Got my solo endorsement after 8 hours of stick time. Been flying all around coastal Norcal since and I absolutely love it. Anyone else flying?

What do you fly? any planes you lust after?

I've been piloting a Cessna 150 but have been eyeing both a Cessna 210 and a Mooney 280...

As if bass GAS wasn't expensive enough...:rollno:

I've got a few hours in a Robinson R22... and have yet to get any stick time in a fixed wing craft.

I'm slowly setting aside money to get my PPL next year or 2015. Since growing up on an Air Force Base, I've always been fascinated by aviation, especially rotorcraft.

Nice! I'm logging hours every weekend when the weather is nice (damn Winter) looking to get my PPL in the Spring.

I used to fly Pipers (Arrow, Archer) but 2 years ago I was unable to pass the FAA physical due to vision and hearing issues. They pulled my ticket! :bawl:

Ive never flown a taildragger, tho, and always wanted to. I like the old Cessna 190's (radial engine, taildragger). But I'll never fly one.

Aww man, I'm sorry to hear they clipped your wings! Even though I drive my car about 100 times more than I fly, I'd still rather lose my DL than my endorsement. Perhaps its just wishful thinking but maybe someday medical advances can correct things like color-blindness and hearing loss so that it's not a factor for someone yearning to fly. I'm betting you at lease have some great memories!

8 hours? Seriously? Having worked on mine till circumstances conspired yet again to prevent my PPL, I'm assuming you got your radio ticket, ground school and all that already passed yes? I know the laws are different down there but that soon?
In answer to your question C175 and a Citabria my instructor owned. Got just past solo cross country, then BAM....
:D

8 hours to get my solo endorsement, I have yet to get my PPL. You can get a solo endorsement (in the US atleast) at your instructors discretion. I passed a basic and short written test.So yeah, in 8 hours I learned how to take off, control, maneuver, and land the plane as well as radio communications. I still have A LOT to learn, though but I'm working on it all the time!

Thanks Keith for making me want to start flying again.

I think I'll start a collection. Who wants to donate $15k for my PPL?

Me!

I'm a flight instructor at UND. Little over 600 hours, mostly in a Cessna 172. Flown a Piper Arrow and Seminole, Super Decathlon, and Cessna 150 as well. Definitely planning on getting a little airplane to fly myself around in someday.

8 hours before you solo is pretty impressive, almost sketchy haha.

I was in the CAP when I was younger, got to fly around in a Cessna 182, and also got a ride in a few other birds. PPL is definitely on my bucket list.

Peace,
Greg

Avid Flight Simulator pilot; my other hobby. I'm known as Cap'n H within those circles (like group flights online, etc).

My medical has lapsed. I logged 160 legal hours. Unlogged include 30 minutes of air time in a 1928 Ford Trimotor (N414H), half hour left seat B737-200QC (empty freighter), twenty minutes right seat A340-300 over Europe in the middle of the night at 39,000 ft with the autopilot off, stick time on DHC6 Twin Otter, DC-3, Fairchild FH227, WACO UIC (with roll down windows), Bucker Jungman, Harvard, C180 on floats. The float time was brief, but I did two takeoffs and two landings...the first was firm, the second was a greaser. I have some in air stick time in a Goose. Float flying is highly addictive. DC-10 and B737 simulator for an hour each with a line pilot and full motion. When we did the B737, we tried to do a high speed pass down the runway with a pull un into a loop to slow down, drop gear and flaps, but the thing shut down and we recieved a lecture. Have an hour and a half on a L-13 Blanik. Gliding is addictive.

have fun.

I even offered the FAA doc a handsome bribe to fudge the numbers. But he wouldn't bite.

Perhaps not handsome enough.... :hiding:
