Any suggestions for more adult-styled shoes/boots?

Hey guys,

So I guess I'm getting to that age where it's no longer really proper to go out in public with a pair of Nike's on unless I just came from the gym. Any suggestions on some stylish yet comfortable shoe/boot brands that I can wear at the office, on a date, and on a gig?

Thanks!

I'm 41 and I wear Keen Targhee II hiking boots just about everywhere I go. They look good with jeans or some tan pants and I even wear them with shorts. I'm kind of and outdoors guy though. But they're light, comfy and waterproof.

But don't let anyone tell you what you SHOULD wear. If you can get away with some Nike sneaks and your boss doesn't care, then rock those bad boys and don't worry about it. As for dates, that all depends on the girl.

Wear your Nikes!
Who cares? My grandparents and parents still wear their Nikes out everywhere and I'd bet they're a good deal older than you.

Long as you aren't in those neon colored high top Jordan's, I think you'll be alright haha.

If you really want an image change I say go for it. It will be noticed.

I will always recommend Doc Martens.

They actually have some nice (and comfortable) shoes if the big black boots aren't your thing. :P

If you're really fashion-clueless, as I am, then just look at what the successful people in your office are wearing.

Merrel jungle mocs, stylish and comfortable. Good selection of colors too.

I am on my feet all the time, spending some money to keep them happy is not problem for me. Shoot, I have some boots in the $250 range.

I wear a variation of these Clarks desert boots here:

but with a low rise heel. I found them for about $80. They look great with jeans, or khakis and are pretty comfy. I have to wear steel arch supports due to my insanely flat feet, but even before, they were pretty comfortable.

As in, like, "adult contemporary" shoes? lol

Anything patent leather that's very uncomfortable around the ankles. You'll need thick black socks to go with them.

And a saxophone wouldn't hurt.
