I can't remember who, but one of the OT regulars is from Anaheim. There are a few others who live not too far away - Macaroni Tony, Maki, Matticus. I'm about a 45 minute drive away, so is Icon.

Ask your question. One of us might be able to help.

Hey man! I won a free trip to NAMM. My city doesnt really have taxi's, and I never flew, so Im a bit unfamiliar with how these things go. I believe they are booking my flight into LAX on Friday January 20th. Are taxis readily available around the airports? Do you know how much it might be roughly from LAX to the convention center? My hotel is called The Desert Palm right across the street.

I recommend booking yourself on a shuttle. It should be under $30 each way ($20 each way last year). A taxi will be pretty spendy.

Your hotel should be able to hook you up. The year I went I took a bus out (the Disney bus goes direct from LAX and stops all over Anaheim), and a shuttle back, since the bus doesn't run at 4AM.

You can try Super Shuttle, too. They're national, and they run a branch out of LAX. You can book online in advance of the trip and they discount for round trips so you'll have a guaranteed ride back to the airport when you go home. I travel a lot for work, and this company has been awesome to work with. If they're available where I'm going, they're my first phone call.

SuperShuttle Los Angeles | LAX Airport Shuttle | LAX Shuttle Service | LAX Shuttle to Disney

TB'er RPB_McG grew up in Anaheim and still lives pretty close. If you need some tips on getting around there, PM and let him know. Tell him Tat sent you.

a free trip to Namm? Lucky bastard, I've never been able to get tickets, and I live a half hour away!

I'm a resident of the Disenchanted Kingdom but it looks like you already have plenty of transportation advice. I will say going to NAMM for the first time will absolutely boogie woogie on your brain!

I can literally walk to the convention center but I haven't been to NAMM since the early 90s.

Shoulda flown into John Wayne - it's a lot closer (13 miles vs. 35 miles).

Yup. SNA (John Wayne Airport) is much easier to deal with.

In fact, if you fly into John Wayne, there's a chance I could pick you up on my way to NAMM, depending on when you get in.

Get yourself over to the Jager House for breakfast (German pancakes or the German omelet).

The best thing you can do for yourself is rent a car. Southern California is not taxi-friendly. Everything is miles apart here. It will cost you many bucks to do taxis or shuttles.

I'll probably be going on Friday. PM me if you're interested in a ride. It'll depend on when you arrive.
