It's a little easier on the liver and the stomach. A current favorite is Joel Gott red zin. So if you like wine feel fre to share what you're drinking. Cheers!

Fun hobby that I've had to put on hold, possibly indefinitely, due to critical health issues.

I'm a lover of wine. I've slowed down my buying since moving from Northern California though. I've found a couple of pretty good wineries in Long Island (and many more not so good ones) but not surprisingly, miss the availability I enjoyed in CA.

There's surely others I'm not aware of too! Got any recommendations as far as california wines are concerned? Can't say I know many, I've focused on Australian/chileans/venezuelans as far as reds are concerned.

Ferrari Carrano, Dry Creek Vineyard, Caymus to name a few.

The main difference was the look, the wine was very pretty to the sight, not much better if any to the taste buds.
ymmv ofc.

I don't necessarily want to develop too expensive a taste but I can taste a big difference between a Bottle of Ravenswood Zin as opposed to say The Federalist Zin. One's about $15 and the other is around $22. In this case The Federalist is worth the $22 over the Ravenswood. I would prefer to drink Caymus Zin which is around $60 a bottle where I live but it's not not worth developing an squired taste for it where I'm concerned because a $60 bottle of wine would only be for a very special occasion.
Damn auto correct!

I'm not sure how widely available it is out of state, but Texas wines, while not necessarily the most refined, have excellent bang for the buck. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_wine
That all being said...I'm a beer snob, a whisky/whiskey snob, but with wine I'm a bit of a noob still. |

Haven't drunk beer in the house for years. | Can't go wrong with a Casillero Del Diablo! My "go-to" reds lately have been from the following wineries: Jacob's Creek, Windham Estate and Las Moras.

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jun 2008 Location: Close to Los Angeles, CA | | The thing about wine is that I don't know very much, and it is too expensive to figure out what I like. With beer, I can try many brews, and rarely have to spend more than $10 on a bottle. Wine, on the other hand, sets me back $20 to $100 a bottle. I guess I need to start going to wine tasting events.
The last bottle I had was called "Cigar Zin."
The only thing I can really say about my taste in wine is that I like reds, and don't like them too sweet or too dry. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
