I work nights, 5:30 PM until 6:00 AM. It's a bit of a drag but on the other hand I am grateful to be working.

Just curious as to who else here puts in the night time grind.

Sometimes I work the evening shift (usually 3pm-11pm), what days I work are pretty set, but the times of day are rather variable.

It's actually pretty nice, since it gets pretty calm and easy going for the second half of the shift and the night managers are all really cool.

I've never done overnight though. I sure hope I don't ever have to.

Currently working nights and as a taxi driver, I need to be working weekend nights to make the most money, so if I want to start gigging actively again, something would have to give. When last I was in a band, I was working 3 12 hour day shifts Monday - Wednesday which worked out perfectly for playing. I switched up to my current schedule when I was still bitter from my last band experience and was thinking, "Never again."

I spent some time as a graveyard shift security guard then as gas station cashier. There's was never any traffic and it was nearly impossible to be late due to sleeping in but it was very challenging trying to maintain a "normal" life.

BTW, graveyard gas station cashier is a great job for college students. Work for about 30 actual minutes (as long as it's not a high-traffic gas station or one with a mini mart) and have the rest of the to study/do homework...and nowadays, most people pay with debit cards.

I used to to work a reverse 9-5. I'm a night person so it worked fine for me.

I worked one job where the shifts were either 6AM-4PM or 4PM-6AM.

Awful gig... and I ended up working 4PM-6AM Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. No weekends for me.

I did it one summer while home for school. 8pm to 8am 3 days on 3 days off. 11 hours of on feet pvc bundling 1 hour for lunch. I hated that job with a passion but it was good motivation to finish school.

I've been working 1:30AM-9:30AM for the past 11 years. It is a good shift for me, but it includes weekends, so that is a drawback.

I've been working rotating 12 hour shifts since 1981. There were a couple of breaks of straight days in there over the years. I have 5 more night shifts left in July and then I'm off all of August. When I get back to work in September, I'll be going on straight days for 6 months. Then I am eligible to retire in Februarty ! Yeah, man ! No more shift work EVER !
