I quit 10 months ago -- it does get easier but the desire to smoke never really goes away.

A lot of it is Mental;. You have to think of yourself as a "Non Smoker" instead of a "Smoker who's trying to quit."

I have quit smoking cigarettes 158wks 6days 12hrs 25mins 22secs ago

It will not become easier because nicotine is still running in your system due to your use of nicotine patches. Not only you have to fight the psychological symptoms of withdrawal, you still have the physiological symptoms of the withdrawal.

I suggest you get the book EASYWAY To Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. I suggest this book to any person who is motivated to quit. If you WANT to quit, this book might just help. It was also translated to like 70 languages and there is an audio-book version of it.

Good luck, it can be done!

I forgot to mention, at some point after I quit (Approximately 2 weeks in) I didn't even want to smoke and the smell of cigarettes was bad.

It's all in your head. Read that book!

It'd be easier if you didnt keep feeding your body nicotine.

Ive quit for over 4 weeks now. Cold turkey is the way to go.

Good post. Its true, as when I'm in certain situation where I would smoke before I have to consciously make the effort not to, but its a pretty easy effort if its something youre really determined to do.

Conversely, I'm not given over to asinine TB posts because I smoke.

You can do it! Hang on...

I used to think the most intolerant people around smokers were those that never smoked. Nope, the most intolerant are reformed (-ex) smokers.

Have a heart around those that haven't quit yet, and remember, you used to be one.

I quit about an hour ago. I'll probably restart in another hour or so.

Thats a bit of a generalization there. I couldn't care less if others still smoke around me. I don't dismiss myself when my friends light up, nor do I complain about it.

I quite 22 months ago. I used Chantix. It worked pretty well with virtually no withdrawal symptoms. I smoked for over 30 yrs.

As a 40 year pack-a-day smoker who has tried Chantix, cold turkey, Welbutrin, candy, gum, etc... vaping is the easiest and the only way I could put them down. I actually like vaping more than cigs. I have been off cigs for about 10 days; before now I could never even make one full day. Thanks James and God for that thread.

+1.
I quit cold turkey about ten years ago. Took about a couple of weeks, but it worked and I haven't had a smoke or the desire to smoke in all that time. And I have almost no self discipline.

I only smoked for about 6 months or so, but I quit about two weeks ago. Unfortunately I did it 2 days before my band's comeback show. Nearly passed out from the headache and stomachache. Since then I've only had one, and it was on a night that I got blackout drunk. I took two drags and then threw up. No more cigs for me, ever.

Awesome and you are welcome! I love it too.

I'm planning on going down from my 24mg juice to around 10mg over my next orders... and just sustaining from there. I'm okay with restricted nicotine intake without all the other crap in cigarettes.
