I'm hooked to it, I really dislike violence but man seeing someone beat the crap out of someone else with their consent is great!! I like to sit and watch and think to myself sheesh I can take that guy. But honestly I know I probably can't....
Ok last O.T. thread and post of the day! I promise

He's wearing the white trunks. The clip is very short. This fight lasted less than one round. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-8gsClJ1Jhw

| | | | Can I say that I'm torn on the MMA thing? As a male I'm intrigued by the sport of it because I can put the violence into context, but as a High School teacher I'm appalled at how the teenage kids I teach are viewing/receiving it.
There isn't any data to support it, but the number of fights is certainly on the increase around here as MMA grows in popularity- it's probably not the students who actually train for MMA (there are quite a few MMA Training Schools around here) because I'm assuming that those who are training are being taught the discipline and respect that marital arts use as a foundation. However, for the rest of the kids MMA is like video games come to life- glorified violence in their eyes. They fail to see the dedication, sport and respect for the opponent. Instead they get caught up in the Kimbo Slice street fight aspect of it. I honestly wonder where this is going to take today's generation of teenagers.... |

Started boxing about a month ago, got two more months before I change gyms to Gladiator MMA, a gym that opened recently and has 2 former UGC champs and the current UGC champ as trainers, with 3 other guys with pro records on staff and a fight team of like 8 additional fighters. They've even got a weight set + squat rack, which means I can stop paying for gym memberships and JUST pay dues for the MMA gym.
EDIT: Also, I heard the EliteXC card tonight was an embarassment. Whatever. WEC, Faber vs. Pulver coming up...WEC/UFC is def. the way to go.

My question is, if it looks that bad before the fight, and that susceptible to popping why doesn't he have it removed? Sure it would suck to not have all of your ear, but if all it takes to lose by TKO is a good shot to the ear then he's pretty much screwed as a fighter.

It almost looked fixed, if he had another 30 seconds or so he probably could have had a KO, instead of TKO. Maybe its just EliteXC rules on bleeding or something but why stop a fight when both fighters are still on their feet? If they did that at all fights Forrest Griffin would never win....

Thompson had a completely cauliflowered ear, and if you looked at it at the end of the fight, that ball of an ear had ripped right back open. If Kimbo hit it again (as he would have), dude's ear might have been half ripped off or hearing damage could have occurred. Kimbo was just about to KO the guy anyways- he had gotten 3 or 4 unanswered shots in a row in before the stoppage. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
