Anybody having trouble with musicians friend latley?

Sign in to disble this ad
Ordered a fairly big package sunday.

4 days(3 business) go by I assume its in the mail, I check the tracking number yesterday, apparently there isn't one. I call and see why. The guy says it had to be "verified by the bank" and that they attempted to contact the bank but it was closed.(for 4 days straight?)They said they would attempt today.

I didn't get angry, I was actually very friendly with him.

So I call back today.

I of course get a different guy to talk to. I tell him the whole story. Finally after about a 20 minute conversation(80%holding) he gave me the number to their "Verification Department". talked to them for another 20 minutes(mostly holding)

So now, hopefully everything's taken care of. They say it will ship Monday.

I haven't bought from them in years but it didn't used to be all this...

Oh well, could be worse I guess.

www.sweetwater.com

if they have it, then i get it from them. they are all total gearheads and music geeks like me, so they are really personal and nice about everything. I feel like musiciansfriend is just like a telemarketing job. they dont know much about the product besides what is on the spec sheet. sweet water people like, try out the gear they get and all that stuff. they have heard all the cabinets and pedals. i love it!

not to mention sweetwater lets you do the "3 easy payments of" thing, but ship after the 1st payment. no credit, no interest, just good gear at a good price.

I had ordered 4 cheapy microphones from them last year for my band, they came with free connectors (connect the mic to the mic stand) So I ordered online, paid with my credit card, the mics and connectors arrived about a week later. Go to check my credit card and..... they somehow never charged me 4 free mics, thanks Musicians Friend.
In my favor of course but it just goes to show you that they're far from perfect.

Plus I even got a handful of candy packaged in with one of my sweetwater orders. You can't beat that.

The only time I ever had big problems with MF was when they were moving a bunch of inventory to some other warehouse a few years back. I got a lot of run around and one order seemed to disappear completely for a while. They apologized pretty heavily (and I wasn't even obnoxious or hostile) for the inconvenience and sent me a blanket 20% of an entire order coupon.

That's how I got my brand new Traynor yba200 for 20% off the old (already lower than now) price.

I had the same issue last week. I had to be on a 3-way callwith my bank and MF. I thought this was kind of weird since I have bought from MF several times in the past.

Here's the kicker. I was going to buy a 60% off closeout bass. It was in stock when I ordered it, but by the time they got through with this verification (4 days later) the bass had sold out. Huge bummer.

I don't have anything serious to complain about. UPS/Fedex for international shipping is a bummer (upwards of 40% of the product price in brokerage fees), but it's better than Sweetwater, which won't ship to Canada.

MF has always been great for me. They`ll price match everything, usually give you an additional 5-10% off, and will give you free shipping even if the price is below $100 if you ask.

You just have to know how to work these people

I ordered a Traben Chaos 5 from them in July, but it was out of stock, but would be back in stock late August. So I waited. Then they said it would be out of stock until October. So I waited. Then they sent me my money back, canceled my order without telling me, and raised the price $100 bucks. So I called them, chewed them out for several hours after which the finally said they'd let me re-order at the original cost, and the bass would be shipped by November. I got it January 5th or so.

So yes, I've been having trouble with Musician's Friend lately.

Im guessing they'd be able to give you free shipping in the US, don't think there would be any luck for you or I.
