Anybody know anything about PSP's

So my wife just bought me a psp 3000 for a trip I'm taking next week. Turns out a buddy of mine is going to go with me. I was thinking about getting another psp so we could play together. Now my question is, I don't know how the game sharing thing works on the psp. Do they just link up together like a pair of walkie talkies do or do you need to be in a room with a wirless router. It seems to make more sense to me that you wouldn't need a router but I'm not sure.

You need Wi-Fi to connect wirelessly.

Been a while since I played, but I'm pretty sure the ad-hoc wireless function doesn't require anything but the two psp's

Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out if there's wifi capabilities inside the psp to allow it to connect to another psp in the near vacinity.

Ok, cool. Now I'm wondering if only certain games have this function. I've downloaded several ps1 games and they say 2 players but I'm wondering if it's possible with those games. Like say crash team racing for example.

Look for the words "Game Sharing" in the game description.
Not all games support it. All you need are two PSPs reasonably close to each other and one copy of a Game Sharing enabled game.

With other games you both have to have a copy of the same game in your respective PSPs.
