I'm guessing that you're on Windows 7 & your Folder Icons are royally messed up.

Found two solutions on the InterTubez:
  1. Install & run CCleaner - it has a 'reset icon cache' option
  2. The method outlined in this post on a W7 forum.

I use XP, & when this happens I fix it with a Stone Age W95 app called TweakUI. Dunno if it'll run on 7 though.

None of your suggestions have worked, but thanks for your input so far (to all that are trying).

Can't you right click on the folder>select properties>select customize>restore default?

Nope. I've done that at least 3 times now. Nothing so far.

On a more serious note, you're having some serious icon/cache issues. If some of the other walkthroughs and apps aren't helping, which it looks like they haven't been, try the forum here:

Icon Cache - Rebuild - Windows 7 Forums

There are several ways to try and rebuild/repair your cache and there's a troubleshooting section.

Hope this helps.

Is it just those four folders? Copy one and paste it some where else.
Have you tried a system restore to a date before it happened?

We have a winner! It was 13 folders. I copied them to a temporary folder, then copied them back, and we're squared away. None of the restore cache solutions worked. I don't think the photo folder icons are affected by that.

Thanks Turock!
